Gochar

Gochar means transit: the real-time movement of the grahas (planets) through the twelve rashis (zodiac signs), as opposed to the fixed snapshot of a birth chart.
The slow grahas matter most, because they colour long stretches of time — Guru (Jupiter) spends about a year in each sign, Shani (Saturn) about two and a half, and the nodes Rahu/Ketu about eighteen months. A graha entering a new sign resets the tenor of the period it governs; entering its own or exalted sign strengthens it.
Read against the natal Moon, gochar is the basis for timing windows like Sade Sati.
