Shukra is Venus — the lesser benefic, the planet of love, beauty and pleasure: art, music, refinement, comfort, and the bonds of relationship. It is the natural significator of the spouse (in a man’s chart) and of marriage and harmony generally.
It governs the senses and their delights, wealth that is enjoyed rather than hoarded, vehicles and luxuries, and the reproductive system. Strong, it reads as charm, artistry and ease in relationship; afflicted, as indulgence or trouble in love.
Venus rules the nakshatras Bharani, Purva Phalguni and Purva Ashadha, and like Mercury stays near the sun.
