Chandrashtama

Also written the Moon in the eighth · Chandrashtamam

Chandrashtama (Chandra = Moon, ashtama = eighth) is the stretch of about two and a half days each month when the transiting Moon moves through the eighth sign counted from your birth Moon. Because the Moon circles the zodiac in roughly 27 days, it comes round once a month, on different dates for everyone.

The eighth house is the house of the hidden and the unexpected, so the tradition, especially in South India, treats these days as a poor time to begin, sign or decide anything important. It is not a day of danger. It is a few days of lower resilience, when the mind tires sooner and small things weigh more, best used for rest, finishing and quiet.

It is the sharpest case of Chandrabala, the Moon's support counted from your birth Moon, and it is timed by gochar.
