Graha Yuddha

Also written planetary war · planetary conjunction

Graha Yuddha ("planetary war") is a very close conjunction: two of the five star-planets — Mangal, Budha, Guru, Shukra, Shani — drawn within about one degree of each other. Classical texts picture them as contesting the same point, with a "winner" and "loser" decided by which sits north or is brighter.

A wider, gentler meeting is simply a Yuti (conjunction). The rare, weighty case is the Guru–Shani great conjunction, when the two slowest visible grahas meet roughly once in twenty years.

The Sun and the nodes do not wage war; a graha merely combust by the Sun is Astangata, not yuddha.
